UT Austin's Longhorn Racing Internal Combustion team was the original founding member of the Formula SAE competition, spearheaded by our Professor Ron Matthews in 1981. From 2024 to 2026, the team has expanded its numbers significantly and seen great results for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, with our latest result beating the previous year’s by twenty full places.

Highlights from last year include our composites based aerodynamics package, a fully welded titanium exhaust with a custom 3D printed intake and fuel tank. We’ve also added an electric water pump alongside our lightweight frame with optimized ergonomic packaging. Our goal continues to be to excel both in competition and in giving our members a meaningful learning experience through the world of automotive engineering. Hook'em!
